Burley
A family firm making stoves in their own factory in Oakham, Rutland, since 1975 — genuinely built in Britain rather than assembled here. Every stove uses their Fireball combustion system, and the efficiencies are high for a wood burner: 90.4% on the Bradgate and Hardwick. They also make gas, electric and bioethanol fires — including flueless gas, which needs no chimney at all.

4kW, 84.9% efficient, DEFRA approved. The smallest in the range and the one that suits most modest sitting rooms.
Launde 9304-C
4kW and 84.9% efficient, with a taller, squarer door than the Debdale.
Hollywell 9105-C
5kW, 82.9% efficient. Shown here on its optional base, which lifts the fire to seated eye level.
Bradgate 9305-C
5kW at 90.4% — the highest efficiency Burley publish, helped by a catalytic converter.
Hardwick 9405-C
Also 5kW at 90.4%, in a wider, flat-fronted body. A 5in flue, so it suits a lined chimney.
Arden 9425
New for 2026. 5kW, 83.9% efficient, in the compact shape of the Stapleford.
Icarus 9605
A 5kW stove with a full-height cathedral window — the biggest flame picture Burley make.
Carlby 9307-C
7kW, 84.7% efficient, on tall legs. Useful where a stove has to fill a room without dominating the hearth.
Brampton 9108-C
8kW, 80.3% efficient — shown in a plastered chamber under an oak beam, which is how most of ours go in.
Swithland 9308-C
8kW, with the deeper firebox of the 9300 series and a longer log length.
Dale 9808D
New for 2026 and double-sided — 8kW seen from both rooms, for a chimney breast opened right through.
Crownley 9412
12kW and 84.1% efficient, for a big or open-plan room. ⚠️ Not DEFRA approved, so it cannot go in a smoke control area.
Thurlby 2406
A balanced flue gas stove — cast door and legs, steel body, 80% efficient and 3.1kW into the room. No chimney needed. Natural gas only.
Environ 4240
A flueless gas fire, 2.5kW, inset or freestanding. No chimney and no flue at all — but it needs a room of at least 30 cubic metres.
Esteem 4221
A freestanding flueless gas stove in cast aluminium, 2.5kW with a coal effect. Same 30 cubic metre minimum room size.
Astute 4113
A taller flueless hole-in-the-wall fire at 4.2kW. Sits in an opening, or semi-inset using one of their surrounds.
Acumen 4111-R
Flueless again at 4.2kW, in a shallower body. Remote controlled, with a choice of trims.
Welham 1830
An inset electric fire, 1.2kW with a thermostat, shown with a brass frame and front.
Langton 1894
The same inset in black and chrome, with Burley’s Emberlite fuel bed under the LED coal effect.
Harringworth 1874
A three-sided black trim, for a cleaner opening with no visible hearth fret.
Latitude 5500
Wall mounted bioethanol — real flame with no flue, no chimney and no gas supply. You pour the fuel in.
Monaco 5200
A stainless steel basket set with pebbles and driftwood, burning bioethanol.
Cottesmore Bio 5224
The 1970s basket fire Burley made their name on, rebuilt around a bioethanol burner.
